Fire is one of the most destructive forces, comparable in its ability to cause large-scale devastation to natural disasters such as earthquakes. Despite its potential for destruction, India’s preparedness for fire emergencies remains inadequate. This paper examines the current state of fire safety awareness and emergency preparedness among the Indian population, with a focus on the workplace. It presents findings from a survey of 202 middle-class individuals from across India, highlighting gaps in safety knowledge, training, and implementation of safety measures. The results underscore the urgent need for better safety training, awareness programs, and regulatory reforms to strengthen India's safety culture.
